About Tip Sheet FAQ
Quick answers about what Tip Sheet does and doesn't do. Each answer links to the full guide.
What is Tip Sheet?
Tip Sheet is software that shares tips fairly among hospitality staff in Australia and New Zealand. It collects the card tips from your POS and the shifts from your timesheet system, adds any cash tips you enter, and works out what each person has earned, day by day or week by week. You check the result, lock it, and pay it. See What is Tip Sheet?.
Who is Tip Sheet for?
Tip Sheet is for restaurants, bars, pubs, hotels and hospitality groups in Australia and New Zealand that pool tips among their staff. It works for a single venue and for groups with many venues, including shared teams such as a kitchen that serves several venues. See Frontline and dependent venues.
How does Tip Sheet work out each person's tips?
Tip Sheet shares each service's tips between departments by the percentages you set, then shares each department's portion by hours worked and tip points. Someone who works longer, or has more tip points, gets a bigger share. Your venue's rules decide which hours count, such as the service times and any cut-off. See Tip Sheet and Tips and calculations.
Does Tip Sheet take a cut of the tips?
No. Tip Sheet doesn't deduct, skim or take a percentage of tips. Every dollar of the tip pool is shared among your staff according to your venue's rules. Tip Sheet is paid by subscription, separately from the tips.
Does Tip Sheet hold or pay out the tip money?
No. Tip Sheet never holds or moves tip money. It works out who is owed what, then your business pays it: by uploading a bank file Tip Sheet makes to your own bank, through payroll with Tanda or Humanforce, or another way you choose. See Pay tips out.
Can managers check and change tips before they're paid?
Yes. Managers review each week on the tip sheet and can correct hours, tip points, departments or amounts while the week is in progress. Nothing is paid until someone locks the week, and the locked figures are what staff receive. See Correct a tip sheet and Lock, pay and unlock a week.
Do staff need an app or a login to get their tips?
No. Staff don't download an app, use a card or sign in. They get an email with a link to their own breakdown of what they earned, and they're paid the way your business chooses. If Tip Sheet needs their bank details, they get a one-off link to enter them. See Bank details.
Can staff see how their tips were worked out?
Yes. The payout email links to a summary of each person's tips for the week, and your venue chooses what it shows, such as hours or days worked. See Payout email and settings.
Which POS and timesheet systems does Tip Sheet work with?
Tip Sheet connects to seven timesheet systems: Deputy, Employment Hero, FoundU, Humanforce, Ready Workforce (formerly Zambion), Roubler and Tanda. For POS it connects to Lightspeed, Tyro, Tyro Connect and Triniteq PowerEPOS directly, and to Abacus, Bepoz, Eposnow, GaP Solutions, H&L, Idealpos, Impos, Oolio, OrderMate, SplitAbility, Square and SwiftPOS through Doshii. A frontline venue connects one of each; a dependent venue, which collects no tips of its own, connects only a timesheet system. See Integrations.
Who can see our tips and staff details?
Only the people you give access to, and only for the venues you choose. Each person's role at each venue decides what they can see and change, and signing in with a password needs two-step verification as well. See Users and roles.
