Dashboard

The Dashboard is a one-screen picture of how a venue's tips are tracking: this week by day, by service and by department, against sales, and over the last six weeks. It lives in the venue view, first in the menu down the left. There's nothing to change here; it's for reading.

Only frontline venues have one. A dependent venue collects no tips of its own, so its menu has no Dashboard, and switching to one takes you to Tip Collection instead. See Frontline and dependent venues.

The Dashboard for one venue: daily tips at the top, then departments and top earners, tips against sales, service periods and the last six weeks

Every chart follows the venue and week chosen at the top, except Top Ten Active Earners.

Choose the venue and the week

Pick the venue from the venue list at the top of the screen, and the week from the dates at the top right. The week picker works the same way as on Tip Collection. The round arrows button next to the dates, Reload the charts, refreshes them if you've just made a change somewhere else.

Hover over any bar, slice or point to see its exact amount.

Daily Tip Collections

Daily Tip Collections: a stacked bar for each day of the week, with a green running-total line

Bars use the left-hand scale; the green line uses the right-hand one.

One bar for each day of the week, split into your services, such as Lunch and Dinner. Card tips, cash tips and service charges are all included. The green Total Tips line is the running total for the week so far, so its last point is the week's total.

Tips by Department and Top Ten Active Earners

Tips by Department as a pie chart, and Top Ten Active Earners as a bar chart of names and amounts

Tips by Department shows how the week's staff tips are shared between your departments, such as Front of house and Kitchen. It follows the tip sheet, so if the tip sheet for the week is empty, this chart is blank too.

Top Ten Active Earners is different from everything else on the screen. Its subtitle says All time:

  • It ignores the week you picked. It covers the venue's whole history.
  • It counts only weeks that have been locked. The week in progress doesn't count until it's locked. See Lock, pay and unlock a week.
  • It lists only staff who are currently Active at this venue. Someone who has left drops off the list, however much they earned.

Tips as Percentage of Sales

Tips as Percentage of Sales: a bar of sales for each day, with a line showing tips as a percentage of those sales

Bars are the day's sales on the left-hand scale; the line is the percentage on the right.

How generous customers were each day. The bars are the day's sales, every sale your POS sent through, cash ones included. The line is all of the day's tips as a percentage of those sales: card tips, cash tips and service charges, the same tips as the day's bar in Daily Tip Collections.

Sales come in from your POS. Without one connected there are no sales to measure against, so the chart says No sales in this pay period.

Tips by Service Period and Weekly Tip Collection

Tips by Service Period as a ring with the week's total in the middle, and Weekly Tip Collection as a line over six weeks

Tips by Service Period splits the week's tips between your services. The figure in the middle is the week's total, the same total you see on the Summary tab of Tip Collection.

Weekly Tip Collection shows the week you picked and the five before it, one point per week. Each date is the last day of that week. Pick an earlier week and the whole line moves back with it.

When a chart looks wrong

  • Tips seem to be missing. Card tips that haven't been placed in a service don't appear in any chart. Place them and they'll show up. See Tips that aren't in a service.
  • A chart says there's nothing yet. Each card says why, and it fills in on its own. No tips in this pay period yet means no tips have come in. No department tips yet means the tip sheet for the week is empty, so there's nothing to split. No earnings yet means no week has been locked.
  • A chart says it couldn't load. Choose Try again on the card.
