Notifications

The bell at the top right of every screen, beside your name, is where Tip Sheet tells you about things that don't need you to be on a particular screen: announcements from Tip Sheet, and work it does in the background, such as bringing in shifts or card tips, finishing or failing. It's the same bell in the venue view and the admin view.

A red dot on the bell means there's something you haven't seen, or something still running. While an import is running, a thin ring also turns slowly round the bell.

The preview

Select the bell to see what's new.

The bell opened: Notifications with 1 new, one announcement with a Dismiss link, and View all notifications at the foot

The preview shows announcements you haven't dismissed, and anything still running.

  • An unread announcement has a blue dot beside its title. Select the announcement, or the dot, to mark it read.
  • Dismiss takes an announcement out of the preview. It stays in the full list.
  • Some announcements have a link to the screen they're about.
  • Hover over the time, such as 1d ago, to see the exact date and time.

When there's nothing new, the preview says You're all caught up.

The full list

Choose View all notifications at the foot of the preview. A panel opens from the right with everything: finished and failed imports as well as announcements, newest first. Scroll down for older ones.

The full list: Tip Reallocation for Tikki Tanda, completed, then several Order Import entries, each with the venue, what happened, the dates, the system and when

Each entry names the venue, what happened, the dates it covered, the system it came from and when.

The list above it narrows what you see:

ChooseTo see
AllEverything.
AnnouncementsMessages from Tip Sheet, including ones you've dismissed.
TimesheetsShifts brought in from your timesheet system.
Order dataCard tips and sales brought in from your POS.
Other jobsOther work in the background, such as tips placed in service periods again, bank details brought in, or tips pushed to payroll.
FailedAnything that didn't finish.

You see the work done for the venues you can reach, whoever started it. An import Tip Sheet runs on its own shows here as well as one someone started by hand.

What an entry tells you

You seeWhat it means
Imported 7 of 7 days.Every day in the range came in.
… skipped — locked or paid period. Those days are in a locked or paid week, so they weren't changed. Unlock the week first if they need the new figures.
… outside the requested range. Those days weren't brought in this time. If shifts or tips are missing for them later, run the import again.
A Partial tagSome of it came in and some didn't. The line underneath says what was skipped.
A red Failed tagIt didn't finish. The line underneath says why.
CompletedWork with no days to count, such as tips placed in their service periods again, finished.

If something failed, fix what the message says, then run it again from where you started it: for example Import Timesheets on the tip sheet, or Import past data on the venue's Integrations tab. If it fails again, email Tip Sheet support at support@tipsheet.com.au with the venue and the dates.

While something is running

When you start something that runs in the background, such as Import Timesheets on the tip sheet or Import past data on a connection, a small blue box appears at the bottom left of the screen. It names the work and the venue, such as Timesheet Import for The Slippery Slope, with a bar showing how far it has got.

You can carry on working while it runs. When it finishes, or when you close it with its ×, the box drops into the bell, and the result waits there. Closing it doesn't stop the work.

Who can see what

Everyone who signs in has the bell. Announcements come from Tip Sheet; imports and other background work show for the venues you have access to. There's nothing to set up and nothing to switch off.
