Tip Collection

Tip Collection is the money side of the week: every tip that came into the venue, before Tip Sheet divides it between staff. It lives in the venue view, in the menu down the left.

Check it before you check the tip sheet. If a tip is missing here, or sits in the wrong service, everyone's share will be wrong too.

Tip Collection for one venue, open on POS Tips, with the week's card tips listed

The cards along the top are the tabs. Each shows the week's total and how it compares with the week before.

If any card tips haven't been placed in a service, a yellow message sits above the tabs. See Tips that aren't in a service.

Choose the week

The dates at the top right pick the week. Weeks are coloured by where they stand:

ColourThe week is
Dark blueThe one on screen.
Light blueIn progress: tips can still change.
GreyLocked.
No colourPaid, or no week set up.

A padlock appears beside the dates when the week on screen is locked, and a green tick when it's paid. Tip Sheet remembers the week you chose as you move between screens.

The tabs

TabWhat it holdsShown
POS TipsCard tips from your POS, order by order. At a venue that takes its service charges from the POS, those are included in this total. See Card tips from your POS.Always
Cash TipsCash tips someone at the venue types in. See Enter cash tips.Always
Service ChargesService charges or surcharges someone types in.Only if the venue enters them by hand. See Service charges and surcharges.
SummaryEverything added up, by day, by type and by service.Always

Under each total, From is the same figure for the week before, with the change as a percentage: red and pointing down if it fell, green and pointing up if it rose.

The Summary tab

The whole week on one screen.

The Summary tab: tips by payment type for each day, then by service period, each with a Week column

Top table: where the money came from. Bottom table: which service it landed in. The Week column adds up the days, and % of week is each row's share.

  • By payment type: POS tips, service charges (if the venue has any), cash tips, the total for each day, and each day's share of the week.
  • By service period: the same money split by service, such as Lunch and Dinner. This is what Tip Sheet divides between the staff working each service.

If any card tips haven't been placed in a service, the service table is replaced by the message Some POS tips are not in a service period yet, so this summary would be wrong. Place them first. Choose Show POS tips in it to go to them; see Tips that aren't in a service.

At a dependent venue

A dependent venue collects no tips of its own, so its Tip Collection is different: it shows the share each frontline venue passes to it. See Tip Collection at a dependent venue.

Who can do what

Anyone with access to the venue can see Tip Collection. Changing it needs the tip collection permissions in their role: entering cash (and service charges), placing tips in a service, moving them, and downloading. See What each permission controls.
