Subscription and billing

Tip Sheet charges per billable staff member: anyone who was active at a venue for 24 hours or more during the month. There is one plan, Premium, billed monthly, and the bill follows your head count.

Where to look

In the admin view, choose Business Profile, then the Subscription tab. The tab is there for the business owner, business admins, and anyone with the Can manage subscriptions permission.

The Subscription tab: the Premium card with its status, next bill and payment method, then the billing period, Staff by venue, The bill so far, The last six periods and Who's billedUpdate your cardLook at another period

The top card is the plan at a glance.

On the cardWhat it tells you
Premium and its tagWhere the subscription stands: Free trial, Active, Ending, Paused, Cancelled or Starting soon.
Trial endsDuring the trial, the day it ends. Nothing is billed until then.
Next bill, so farWhat the next bill comes to as things stand, and the date it's billed. A paused or cancelled subscription shows None instead.
Payment methodCard on file, Card expiring soon, The card on file can't be used or No card yet.

Below it, everything is for one billing period. It opens on This period. Use the picker at the top right to look at an earlier one.

  • Staff by venue lists each venue's billable staff and how that has moved since the period before. Beneath it, Counted at the venues less Counted at more than one venue, billed once gives Staff billed. Someone who works at two venues is counted at each but billed once. Venues Tip Sheet doesn't charge for are listed under Not charged for.
  • The bill so far is staff billed times the price, plus tax where it's charged, and the Total. It can still change: the amount is worked out from active staff 24 hours before the billing date. For an earlier period it reads The bill instead, with whether it's paid.
  • The last six periods is a chart of staff billed in each. Choose a bar to see that period's bill.
  • Who's billed repeats the rule above.
The billing period picker open, listing This period and the periods before it by their dates

The count is updated once a day. It can differ from the active staff in Staff Management, because someone who has since left is still billed for the month they worked.

The trial

A new business starts on the free plan, and the tab says On the free plan. The trial starts by itself once your staff are in Tip Sheet and POS tips start coming in. Nothing is billed until it ends. Add a payment method before then so nothing interrupts you.

Update your card or billing details

Choose Manage subscription at the top right of the card. Your billing page opens inside Tip Sheet, where you can change the card and check the subscription. Choose Close to come back. If there's no usable card yet, the same button reads Add a card.

Tip Sheet has no invoice list of its own. Each earlier period on this tab shows its bill and whether it's been paid. For a copy of an invoice, look in the billing page or email support@tipsheet.com.au.

The business name, billing contact and address on your invoices come from Business profile.

If the subscription lapses

Only a cancelled or paused subscription locks people out. When that happens, everyone who signs in sees Your subscription is inactive (or Add a payment method, if there's no valid card) instead of Tip Sheet.

  • The business owner or a business admin sees Reactivate subscription or Add a payment method and can fix it on the spot. Reactivation can take a few minutes to come through.
  • Everyone else is asked to ask your account owner to reactivate the subscription, and has to wait. They can only Log out.

Tips keep being collected and calculated in the background; nothing is lost while you sort it out.
