Add staff by hand
Everywhere else, staff come from your timesheet system and there's no way to add them here. See Approve new starters.
At a dependent venue that doesn't use a timesheet system, the Staff Management screen has an Add Staff button at the top right, and Bulk Upload in the Options menu. There is no Incoming tab: the people you add go straight to Active or Inactive.

This venue calls its multiplier Days, so the extra column is headed DAYS.
There are three ways in.
| Use | When |
|---|---|
| Add Staff | The person is already in your business: they work at another of your venues, or they have a Tip Sheet login. |
| Add manually | Someone new to your business. |
| Bulk Upload | Several new people at once, from a spreadsheet. |
Someone already in your business
Choose Add Staff. The Import Staff box opens.

Pick them from Staff name, then choose their Department, Tip point and Activation date, and Save. They're added as Active, and they bring their contact and bank details with them.
"Import" here only means bringing a person across from elsewhere in your business. It doesn't connect to any payroll or rostering system.
Someone new
In the Import Staff box, choose Add manually. A blank New staff member page opens.

- Name, Department, Tip point, Status and Activation date are required. Status is Active or Inactive.
- If the venue uses a multiplier, it has its own box, named the way the venue names it (here, Days). It's required too, within the range the venue allows.
- Email address is required, even though the page doesn't mark it, and it must not belong to anyone else in your business.
- Phone number is optional, but you'll need it to ask them for their bank details.
- Bank details are optional. If you enter any, enter all three. See Bank details.
Choose Add staff member at the bottom of the page. Their bank status is On File if you entered bank details, or Missing if you didn't. Cancel takes you back to the list; if you've typed anything, Tip Sheet asks before throwing it away.
Several people from a spreadsheet
Open Options and choose Bulk Upload. The Bulk Upload Staff page opens.
1. Download template2. Select CSV file1. Fill in the template
Choose Download template and open it in Excel or Google Sheets. Delete the three sample rows and put in one row per person. The sample rows are only there to show the layout, and some of their values won't work at your venue.
| Column | Required | What to put |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | Their full name. |
| Department | Yes | Exactly as the department is named at this venue. |
| Yes | Different for every person, and not already used in your business. | |
| Designation | No | Their job title. |
| Status | Yes | Active or Inactive, with a capital letter. |
| ImportDate | No | Leave it blank. |
| ActivationDate | Yes | The first day they earn, as 21/09/2026 or 2026-09-21. |
| Mobile | No | Needed later for the bank details invitation. |
| TipLevel | Yes | Their tip points, as a whole number, 1 or more. |
| MultiplierValue | Only if the venue has one | A whole number. Leave it blank if the venue doesn't use a multiplier. |
| BankAccountName, BankAccountNumber, BankBsb | No | All three or none. Account name up to 26 characters, account number 6 to 10 digits, BSB 6 digits. |
Tip Sheet drops anything after the decimal point in TipLevel and MultiplierValue: 1.5 is saved as 1. If your venue uses half points, upload the whole-number part and correct those people afterwards, one by one or with Bulk Actions.
Save it as CSV.
2. Check the rows
Choose Select CSV file and pick your file. Nothing is saved yet. Tip Sheet shows every row under Rows in the file, with a Check column:
- Ready means the row has passed the first checks.
- Error means something is wrong with that row, and the problems are listed right under it, such as a date that doesn't exist or an account number that's too short.
Below that, Match the columns pairs each staff field with a column in your file. If you used the template, it's already filled in. If your file has different headings, choose the right column for each field. Fields marked (optional) can be left empty.
Start again clears the file so you can choose another.
3. Upload
Choose Upload. Tip Sheet checks the whole file again. If anything is wrong, it lists the problems above the buttons under Fix these, then upload again. Some problems only show up at this step, such as a department the venue doesn't have, or the same email twice.
Fix the file, choose Start again, select it again and upload. When it works, you're taken back to the staff list.
One bad row stops the whole file. Nobody is added until every row is right, so you can safely fix and upload the same file again without creating duplicates. If the error mentions only one person, others may have the same problem: check every row for it before you try again.
