Enter cash tips

Tip Sheet can't see the tip jar, so someone at the venue types cash tips in. Open Tip Collection and choose the Cash Tips tab.

The Cash Tips tab: a column for each day of the week and a Week column, with rows for POS tips, cash tips, one row for each service, and the day total1. Choose Cash Tips2. Type, then press Enter

The card, Cash tips by day, is one week at a glance. There's a column for each day and a Week column that adds them up. The row names stay in view if you scroll sideways. The rows are:

RowWhat it shows
POS tipsThe day's card tips.
Service chargesThe day's service charges, if the venue has them.
Cash tipsThe day's cash in total. With cash entered per service, this is the sum of the service rows below it.
One row per service, such as Lunch and DinnerThe boxes you type in, marked with a pencil. A dash means that service doesn't run that day.
Day totalEverything for the day, which is what gets shared out.

Enter an amount

  1. Click the box for the day (and service) you want to change.
  2. Type the amount.
  3. Press Enter, or click anywhere else. It saves straight away: there's no Save button. The page loads for a moment, then the totals update, including the cards at the top of the screen.

Typing 425 into the Dinner box for Tuesday

  • What you type replaces the amount; it doesn't add to it. If Monday's jar held $80 and then another $40 turned up, enter 120.
  • To remove an amount, enter 0.
  • A negative amount is allowed to correct a mistake, as long as the day total doesn't go below zero. Tip Sheet says Day total can not be negative if it would.

Per day or per service

The venue decides how cash is entered, in its settings:

  • For each service period: one box per service, as in the picture. The cash is shared among the staff who worked that service. This is the more accurate choice.
  • Single amount daily: one box per day, in the Cash tips row. Tip Sheet spreads it across the day's services the same way as the card tips.

Cash is never entered per department. See Tip Rules for the setting.

Changing the setting hides what's already entered

Cash entered one way isn't carried over if the venue switches to the other. Switch at the start of a week, before anyone has entered cash for it.

When you can't enter cash

  • The week is locked or paid. A grey message says This pay period is locked, so its cash tips can no longer change. (or paid), and the amounts are plain figures, not boxes. Unlock the week first, if it hasn't been paid; see Lock, pay and unlock a week.
  • The amounts are plain figures. Your role doesn't include Can enter and edit cash tips collected. It's the one permission most supervisors need.
