Adding a new starter

A new starter needs three things before they're paid: to be approved, to have the right share, and to have bank details. Here's the order to do it in.

At a venue with a timesheet system

  1. Set them up in your timesheet system as usual, in the right location and area. There's nothing to do in Tip Sheet yet.
  2. After their first shift, they appear on the Incoming tab of Staff Management. They earn nothing until you approve them.
  3. Configure them. Check their department and tip points, set their status to Active (or Waiting if the venue has a waiting room), and check the activation date. See Approve new starters.
  4. Check their email address and mobile number on their profile. Your timesheet system supplies them once, when the person first arrives.
  5. Ask for their bank details. Unless your timesheet system has already supplied them (their banking status says Imported), send the bank details invitation. See Bank details.
  6. Before you lock the week, look at their row on the tip sheet to see that they're earning, and check their banking status isn't Missing. Anyone owed money without bank details holds up the whole bank file.

At a dependent venue with no timesheet system

  1. Add them with Add Staff, either from elsewhere in your business or as someone new. See Add staff by hand.
  2. Give them an email address and a mobile number if you didn't when adding them.
  3. Ask for their bank details, as above, unless you entered them yourself.
  4. Before you lock the week, check they're on the tip sheet and their banking status isn't Missing.
